Probably one of the more important books about ADD/ADHD written in the last couple of years, George Glade (M.C, M. N., ARNP) comes from a background of his own life experience having to learn to control and manage his own ADD/ADHD to survive college. This book is about his experience and the experiences of people he has met or worked with to help people with ADD/ADHD learn, go to college, and become very successful at what they do for a living. This is a very personable book, approachable, readable, and can apply to anyone who is distracted by our always on, 24X7 world that we live in.
That is what makes the book important, it is full of real life experiences, people, stories, and information that are easily turned into a roadmap for individual success for people who have ADD/ADHD. As the back cover says, people do not fail because they have something, they fail because they forget to harness and use ADD/ADHD to their advantage. It is easy to become over distracted in what we do, this book shows by example how people can harness and use ADD/ADHD to their advantage not just in college, but in real life and in the work situation. This is a must own book for anyone who has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD and wants to go to college, or use the examples in the book to get a reign on the diagnosis, and use that to their advantage throughout life.
George’s style is easy to read, and understandable by any reader. This is not written for the medical profession, it is written for everyone. That is one of the best advantages of the book, in that anyone can pick this book up and read it, understand it, and start using it to become more successful in a world of distractions. The case studies and personal stories of the people in the book all show the way to becoming more successful and using ADD/ADHD to their own personal and life advantage. I totally loved this book as I was reading it, and was able to identify some issues that would help me be more successful in what I do; there is a lot of ability for anyone, not just those with ADD/ADHD to learn from the book. Excellent overall and rated 5 of 5 stars, this is a commanding book written for regular people and not the medical establishment.
