We are in the process of moving thousands of comic books over to our new eBay store. If you are interested in a little back story on why we are moving from Amazon to Ebay – read this article. It will take us a while to move ourselves over to Ebay, and thank you for your patience.
We are also learning the ropes of eBay right now, and that is an interesting process. I definitely recommend the turbo lister for your entries. What we really wish is that there was a way to normalize the database from Amazon to the database on Ebay and make it effortless to move thousands of entries in one go. Right now we are at hand entries, which makes things interesting, we are only good for about 100 entries a day, and with 10,000 comic books we are looking at somewhere on the order of 100 days just to get everything listed. We are also probably making all the newbie mistakes that people make on eBay along the way.
What this is showing us though is that there is no truly unified platform for selling comic books on the internet that speaks with a lot of different systems. It would be great to have a system that has one inventory that can convert between different store formats, stores pictures, and can set a baseline pricing schema. Makes me think this is an opportunity for a new startup to take advantage of, some place that you can sell comic books that is dedicated to nothing but comic books, and has elements of Ebay and Amazon, with the social networking components of Bonanzle. There is no unified place to buy and sell comic books that has the same reputation as Amazon or Ebay. That is what makes this interesting as we move operations over from one site to another site.
One of the things I would recommend though to any seller is that they have an established presence on as many sites as possible. As we learn more about Ebay, we are seeing many old friends over there that sell on both Amazon and Ebay. That makes me feel that we are making the right decision here with our inventory and our stores processes. While we won’t hit the same number as Powell’s, even if Amazon reinstates us, we will continue with our eBay store. At this point it just makes sense to have more than one place to sell stuff, better exposure, more chances to sell stuff.
Check out our new store, and we do hope to be back on Amazon soonest.
